Why Do You Need A Trading Monitor?

Let’s be honest here. How many times have we (myself included) attempted to mark up and take trades off of our phones…

Even if you’re using some of the best trading indicators, this all becomes mashed together in a messy way when trying to operate and trade from a smaller device.

I can say with confidence it has happened to me one too many times. This leads to one massive issue. Lack of CLEAR visibility into the chart, and what is going around the price action from a bigger picture.

I have been stock trading for years and can say without a doubt the moment I got a trading monitor it became much easier to read the charts effectively.

Now, will this make you a better trader?

No… But it helps you have a much clear picture of price action to set yourself up for success. A trading monitor is not a “must-have” to be a great trader. But, for most, it’s a preference they can’t work without. If that’s you, and you’re looking for the stock trading monitors on the market then check out the list below!

FAQs

Q: What Is Hz? Is It Important For Trading Purposes?

When purchasing a monitor for trading stocks, the refresh rate measured in Hz is an important factor to consider. A higher refresh rate means that the image on the screen will update more frequently, resulting in a smoother visual experience.

This can be especially important for day trading, where every detail counts. A refresh rate of 75Hz or higher is usually recommended for trading as it allows for smooth and seamless visuals that can help traders spot every move in the market and make quick decisions.

I think it’s worth noting that a higher refresh rate will require a powerful graphics card to deliver smooth visuals and that some traders may prefer a higher resolution over a refresh rate.

Q: Do You Need a Multi Monitor Setup?

The short answer here is no. Regardless of what you have seen on social media, stock trading movies, or from the “guru” on Twitter, you don’t NEED multiple or additional monitors.

This is particularly common amongst those who day trade as they want to keep an eye on many different charts at once, so having multiple screens can help. If that’s something you are looking to do as well, by all means, go over it.

But often times this can lead to increased trading anxiety and lack of focus as trading monitors amplify your visual censors. With a good trading monitor, you are able to split up multiple charts all on one screen as well if that is your goal. But don’t feel like a multi-monitor setup is a “must-have” when looking to purchase the best trading monitor.

Q: What Price Should I Pay?

The average price point for a new stock trading monitor can vary depending on the size, resolution, and features of the monitor. For the purpose of trading, you can find great monitors for $100-$600.

Unless you are using the monitor for gaming purposes where features are much more relevant, there is no need to buy a higher-priced monitor unless you are extremely picky from my experience.

Q: What’s The Point Of A Curved Monitor?

The purpose of a curved monitor is to provide a more immersive and panoramic viewing experience. The curved design of the monitor can create a wider field of view and reduce distortion, making it easier for the eyes to focus and reduce eye strain.

Personally, I think curved monitors look more sleek and modern compared to traditional flat monitors, making them an attractive addition to any home office or gaming setup. However, the benefits of a curved monitor may vary from person to person, and some people may prefer a flat monitor for their specific use case.

My Thoughts

When it comes to choosing a monitor for trading, there are many options available in the market. It’s important to consider factors such as ergonomic monitors, resolution, response time, and eye protection features, as well as connectivity options, warranty, and adjustable features.

For some traders, certain features might be more worthwhile than others, and in some cases worth spending more money on. So before you make a purchase you should consider what is most important to you when it comes to trading stocks.

Picking a trading monitor is something all great traders have done at some point. It’s a milestone in the long journey that not only can help visualize the markets better but looks great for your trading setup. The options listed above are some of the best stock trading monitors on the market, and choosing any of them will serve you well in your trading journey!
